Join the team behind the country’s leading offseason basketball development programme.
This summer, Bridge the Gap Offseason is opening a limited number of voluntary internship opportunities for ambitious, hardworking individuals who want real hands-on experience in elite player development, sports performance, and content creation.
Running from June through to mid-August, with sessions held in the evenings at Whitefriars School, this is an opportunity to learn inside a high-performance environment, build practical experience, and work directly with experienced professionals who are actively developing athletes at the highest level.
Whether your goal is to progress into coaching, sports therapy, strength and conditioning, media, or performance support, this internship offers direct exposure to what it takes to operate within a serious basketball performance programme.

Training Assistants


A perfect opportunity for aspiring coaches, player development staff, or those wanting experience in elite basketball environments.
As a Training Assistant, you will be:
- Supporting the delivery of on-court skill development sessions
- Assisting with drill setup, station management, and session flow
- Helping athletes through technical teaching points and repetitions
- Learning session planning and player development systems
- Working alongside NBA and Global Skills trainer, Gary Maitland
- Observing how elite trainers communicate, correct, and motivate players
- Helping create a professional training environment every session
Sports Therapists


An outstanding opportunity for students or aspiring professionals in physiotherapy, sports therapy, rehabilitation, or athlete care.
As a Sports Therapist Intern, you will be:
- Assisting with player preparation and recovery protocols
- Supporting warm-up, mobility, and cooldown routines
- Helping monitor athlete wellbeing and physical readiness
- Observing injury prevention strategies in a live performance setting
- Working alongside Bridge the Gap physiotherapist, Danielle Oghuvbu
- Learning best practices in athlete treatment and movement support
- Gaining exposure to the physical demands of high-level basketball athletes

Strength and Conditioning Coaches


Designed for aspiring S&C coaches who want real experience working with athletes in a performance environment.
As a Strength & Conditioning Intern, you will be:
- Assisting with athletic development sessions
- Supporting speed, agility, movement, and conditioning drills
- Helping monitor workloads and athlete output
- Learning how basketball-specific performance programmes are structured
- Working alongside Joe from Performance Cure
- Observing coaching methods used to improve strength, movement quality, and resilience
- Helping athletes prepare physically for the upcoming season
This role is ideal for students or coaches looking to build a future in performance sport.
Content Creators


Perfect for creative individuals wanting experience in sports media, branding, and digital storytelling.
As a Content Creator Intern, you will be:
- Capturing photo and video content during sessions
- Creating short-form social media content for Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms
- Showcasing athlete journeys, training energy, and behind-the-scenes moments
- Supporting marketing campaigns throughout the offseason
- Helping grow the Bridge the Gap brand presence online
- Working closely with staff to tell the story of the country’s leading offseason programme
- Building a portfolio of real sports media content
